PG Rated Morning

A PG Rated Morning

This morning, during what was becoming a regular mad dash to work, I came upon a guy looking for his dog in our apartment building. Apparently, his dog rushed out while they were on the elevator and at that precise moment when the doors were about to close. He also didn't have the presence of mind to quickly check which floor the dog ran off to, so now he was forced to go through each floor of the building to look for his pet.

Which was all very unfortunate for him, and I did feel some amount of sympathy, but all of these details were thrown out the window the moment I realized he was wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a boxer shirt. He was going through all the floors of my building practically naked.

Now, call me a prude, but I'm pretty sure that walking around in your underwear in an apartment complex pushes the boundaries of propriety, even granting that you are so disoriented by the fact that you just lost your dog earlier. I mean, it takes two seconds to put on a decent pair of shorts and a shirt. Are you seriously going to tell me you didn't even have time to do that?

So, there he was, walking around as if looking like that in a public place was the most natural thing in the world. He then asked me if I saw a dog on my floor, and I said I didn't have time to look, and that I didn't see any. I was also very quick to avert my eyes, lest he think I was checking him out in all of his half-naked glory. (He was fairly good-looking though, which I guess I can consider a mitigating circumstance).

I shared an elevator with him for a couple more floors, until he left on the third, to go around and shock more people with his nakedness I believe. Now that I think about it, maybe it's his way of getting people to stop so that he can ask them if they saw his dog somewhere.

You know what would be funny? If his lost pet was a bird.

"Have you seen my bird?"

"Not yet, but if you bend over at a certain angle, I'm sure I would soon."

Yes, my sense of humor is juvenile. Sue me. I'm blaming it on the fact that I'm not emotionally prepared to be accosted by half-naked men so early in the morning.

  1. I just wrote a comment on some one's blog that children's eyes should be spared nudity or scanty clothing. Now I go further to say that adult's eyes should not have to encounter barely clothed men or women either. Sheesh.

  4. Hahaha, there's nothing quite like a clash of two people's ideals.

He's probably under the assumption that he has done everyone a favour by wearing *any* clothes.

Can you imagine someone running around in their birthday suit?!

  5. what the heck is a 'bird'? Also, I agree with you, my mother says it's like wearing a bathing suit at the beach but I strongly disagree and most certainly the apartment complex shared areas are not the place for that display :( I mean, think of the children. . .

  8. Oooo there is a lady that lives in the building beside mine and she comes out when its warm and lays on the grass in what appears to be a very short and very revealing gown? ewwwww! it's so gross. some people just have no idea!

  9. Maybe he just hadn't thought about the fact that he was not dressed. Me, I'd have said, "You need to get some clothes on," and I'd probably have caused him total humiliation. Then again,as someone said, he may have been FULLY aware of what he was not wearing... maybe he wasn't looking for his PET at all and was trying a new way to get the attention of some kindhearted woman, and this way he was all set. I'm glad my coffee mug was not at the computer for this one! Thank you for the image.

  10. I wonder if it was a ruse? Maybe he just wanted to flirt with someone.

  11. Love the joke about the bird! Yes, it would take me aback to see a guy running around in his underwear. At least he wasn't in whitie tighties.

  13. I have to admit that I love my dog enough to run after her while half-naked. She's like a child to me. He was probably so worried about his dog that he didn't even think to throw anything on. I probably would have- I think.

My dog is so innocent and world-unwise that she'd just wander on forever. I'd hate to think of her on her own. Poor guy. I hope he found his puppy.

  14. I'm wondering if he took his dog outside dressed like that. What a sight for the general public! Anyway I know someone just as uncouth, It's my Brother-in-law and he knows where his dog is. So your not a lone in the MY-EYE'S, MY-EYE'S...catagory.

  17. Funny story, I laughed. Now if you think about it for a while, everyone is naked under their clothes. What the hell was he doing walking his dog in his boxers in the first place? I'm sure the cops would have been interested if you told them there was a half-naked man walking around asking people if they'd seen his lost puppy.

  25. Sounds like you had quite the morning :D I would have found it extremely difficult not to have commented on his general nakedness.

  26. Lucky that he's gorgeous. Even if it's a ruse, he flaunted what he got. ;)

    Thanks for the comment!

  27. Or, perhaps his story about the dog was just a chance to get you to stop and check out his Fruit of the Looms and not the other way around. I mean c'mon, he got three floors worth of opportunity to make small talk while wearing his skivvies, not everyone can pull that off.

Seems like a scene out of a formula Hollywood romantic comedy.

  34. In situations like that, you can't help but have potty humor. It's the only way to make it out of them with a bit of sanity. Is there a dog still lurking around the hallways?

  35. This happened to me once, minus the boxers part. My dog got in the elevator when my back was turned and then someone called it, and I had to spend the next 20 or so minutes looking for my dog. The funny thing is... while I was on another floor calling him, the doors opened and there he was. It was bizarre. Anyway, boxers seem like shorts to me? Boxer briefs or whity tighties, now THAT would have been awkward haha but you wanna feel really uncomfortable just check out what the boys in HOT YOGA wear!!!

  36. That is an awkward way to start your day. It would definitely throw me off for the rest of it. Why wouldn't he put on more than boxers? I mean, it's weird for you- but it would be more embarrassing for him I would think.
